Annual General Meeting (General Assembly) of ECAR

What is it?

The General Assembly is the legislative body of the European College of Animal Reproduction (ECAR). It is the highest authority in the College and meets once per year.

When and Where?

  • Held annually at a time and place designated during the previous meeting.

  • Preferably in conjunction with a European scientific meeting related to animal reproduction.

Who can attend?

  • All ECAR Diplomates (active, non-practicing, retired).

  • Only active Diplomates may:

    • Vote.

    • Be elected to the Board.

  • Diplomates are expected to attend at least once every three years

Voting and Quorum

  • A quorum is reached with at least one fourth of the voting members present.

  • Decisions (unless otherwise stated) are made by an absolute majority vote.

  • The language of the meeting is English.

Duties and Powers

The General Assembly is responsible for:

  1. Governing the College

    • Approving or amending the Constitution and Bylaws.

    • Approving the annual business conducted by the Board.

  2. Elections and Appointments

    • Electing Board members:

      • President

      • Vice-President

      • Past-President

      • Six additional Board members

    • Electing Auditors

  3. Financial Oversight

    • Acting on the Auditor’s report.

    • Setting membership dues for the following year.

  4. Disciplinary Actions

    • Approving expulsion of Diplomates as recommended by the Board.

  5. Other Functions

    • Taking action on any other business brought forward by the Board or required by the Constitution.
